Born in Vienna, Austria, Matthias “Mato” Johannik is a graduate of the well-renowned Brooks Institute for Photography in Santa Barbara, California. Assisting legends such as Greg Gorman, Steven Klein and David Lachapelle, he got the ropes of high end celebrity portraiture.
As a former international fashion model and commercial actor, Mato has an empathic understanding of what it means to be in front of a camera lens. 
An ability to capture his subjects with intimate nonchalance and candid immediacy imparts Mato’s images a true-to-life character, bearing his signature style.

As a visual artist, curator, panel speaker, creative director and magazine publisher, Mato is well experieced to manage large, big budget productions as well as work in small teams on creative assignments.

While working on productions in Vienna, Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles, he lives in Olso with his family.
