Born in Vienna, Mato Johannik is a graduate of the renowned Brooks Institute for Photography in Santa Barbara. Assisting legends such as Greg Gorman, Steven Klein and David Lachapelle, he got the ropes of high end celebrity portraiture.
His early work explored narratives of street fashion and documentary photography, creating a body of work which foreshadowed the fast paced aesthetics of social media advertising. An unparalleled ability to capture his subjects with intimate nonchalance and candid immediacy imparts Mato’s images a true-to-life character, bearing his signature style.
